Tuesday - September 7

We begin week 3 of school...

Math
-
Today we continued our unit on percents, decimals, and fractions.  Students finished p. 13-16, 18 in the activity book and reviewed 6ths and 8ths on their chart from Friday.   We then went over fractions & percents.   HW: p. 21-22, 24 in Investigations activity book

Social Studies - Today we reviewed chapter 6 lesson 1 on the Middle Colonies, and then discussed lesson 2 on the daily life of those in the Middle Colonies. 
HW: Practice pg. on lesson 2, p. 199 #2-5 under "lesson review."
Chapter 6 test is Friday.

 Tuesday - August 24

 

Math - Today we reviewed dividing decimals relating to money. 
HW: Lesson 4-10 p. 233 Practice # 6-18
Quiz tomorrow on lesson 1-5, 2-7 through 2-11 and modeling division of decimals. 
Science- We wrapped up the unit on the Solar System chapter 2 today and finished discussing planets. Students should have almost all the study guide done by now.  It is due Thursday.
HW: finish study guide

Language Arts

Study for spelling test and vocabulary test this Friday (flashcards were handed out in class with words/definitions)
Start on 3 Pigs/Cinderella story

Wednesday - Aug. 25

Social Studies- We read together lesson 2 on the Northwest Native Americans (Nez Perce and Kwakiutl).  We saw a video on their hunting/gathering, fishing for salmon, building houses from cedar trees, making dugouts, and totem poles.  Their primary resources were salmon and wood.  The Nez Perce are from Idaho. Quiz on lesson 3 is tomorrow.  

HW: do p. 2 of the Native American booklet on the Nez Perce, p. 3 on Kwakiutls (the back page of the booklet has  rubric to define how your child will be graded).
Complete study guide questions #16-18, 22

Math
- Today was an introduction to the order of operations
HW: p. 573 #5-26

Language Arts - spelling p. 18, finish your success story, complete "Rule 3" on simple and complete subjects (have your child show you the difference between the simple and complete subject of a sentence - we've done it for 2 days now)
